Rob Versloot – Chief Executive Officer
Rob joined the company in September 2008 as Regional Vice President. In July 2011, he became Executive Vice President and Member of the Executive Board. The Board of Directors appointed him to Group CEO in September 2012. Learn more about Rob’s background via his LinkedIn profile.
Witte van Cappellen – Chief Marketing Officer
Witte van Cappellen joined the Hero Group in 2000 as Director Operations before taking over as general manager of Hero Netherlands and subsequently Hero Benelux. In 2009, he took over as head of Semper AB and was appointed as Cluster General Manager Northern Europe, which includes the Hero business for the Nordics and Organix UK, in 2015. Witte is responsible for the Hero Group core categories (Baby & Toddler Milk, Baby & Toddler Food, Jams, and Healthy Snacks), branding and communication, innovation and quality, supply chain, and procurement. Markus Lenke – Chief Operations Officer
Markus joined our company Schwartauer Werke in December 1993. He held different Commercial and GM positions within the company and was appointed to Regional Vice president in July 2012 and is since that time a member of the Executive Board. Find out more about Markus’ profile.
Dr. Karsten Boyens – Chief Financial Officer
Karsten Boyens joined the Hero Group as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in April 2016. He brings with him a wealth of experience in the financial field and consulting. Find out more about Karsten from his LinkedIn profile.
Board of Directors
The key focus areas of our Board of Directors are to determine the strategic direction of the company, to appoint the members of the Executive Board and oversee the implementation of key business decisions.
Dr Arend Oetker, who owns the majority stake in Hero functions as honorary chairman of the Board of Directors, which is composed of four members: Dr Hasso Kaempfe (Chairman), Herbert J. Scheidt (Vice Chairman), Dr Hagen Duenbostel and Michael Pieper.
Dr. Arend Oetker – Owner & Honorary Chairman
After studying Business Administration and Political Sciences at the Universities of Hamburg, Berlin and Cologne from 1962 – 1966 and Marketing at the Harvard Business School in 1966, Dr Arend Oetker earned his doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Cologne in 1967.
Oetker is owner as well as Honorary Chairman of Board of Directors of the nutrition company HERO AG in Switzerland as well as shareholder and vice-chairman of KWS Saat AG (plant breeding) and chairman of the Cognos AG (education).
He is Chairman of the German Council for Foreign Relations e.V. (DGAP), Honorary Member of the Presidential Board of the Federation of German Industries e.V. (BDI) and Member of the Presidential Board of the Confederation of German Employers' Associations (BDA).
Dr. Hasso Kaempfe – Chairman
Dr Hasso Kaempfe has been a member of the Board of Directors for Hero AG since the beginning of 2012 and since January 2013 also Chairman of the Board of Directors, succeeding Dr Arend Oetker as well as Chairman of the Human Resources Committee. He is also a member of the Finance and Audit Committee
He was the long-standing Executive Chairman of Mast-Jägermeister AG in Wolfenbüttel and before that Board member at Tchibo GmbH as well as a lawyer in Hamburg. Since 2007, Dr Kaempfe has taken mandates as chairman or board member for a number of medium-sized family concerns. Furthermore, he is a Senior Advisor for various consultancy and private equity companies and Vice-Chairman of the Board of the German Brands Association in Berlin.
Dr Kaempfe holds a doctorate in law from the University of Marburg and was admitted to the bar of the Hamburg law courts.
Mr Herbert Scheidt – Hero Board Member since 2010 – Chairman of the Board of Directors, Vontobel Bank
Herbert Scheidt is Vice-Chairman of the Hero Board of Directors, Chairman of the Finance and Audit Committee and a member of the Human Resources Committee.
He has been Chairman of the Vontobel Board of Directors since 2011, before which he was the bank’s CEO from 2002-2011. Prior to that he worked for Deutsche Bank AG in various roles from 1982 culminating with CEO of Deutsche Bank (Schweiz) AG from 2001-2002.
Herbert Scheidt holds an MA in Economics from the University of Sussex (UK) and an MBA from the University of New York.
In addition to his board mandate at Hero, Herbert Scheidt is also a member of the boards of directors of Helvetia Holding AG, SIX Group, Swiss Bankers Association, the Association of Swiss Commercial and Investment Banks, the Zürich Chamber of Commerce and the German-Swiss Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the German Council on Foreign Relations.
Mr Michael Pieper – Hero Board Member since 1997 – President / CEO Artemis Group, Switzerland
Michael Pieper has owned Franke (part of the Artemis Group) since 1989 and was CEO/President of the Franke Group from 1989 until 2012. Prior to joining Franke, Michael Pieper worked several years in the US in different positions in banking and industrial companies.
He holds a MBA from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland (lic.oec.HSG). Michael Pieper is a board member of several other Swiss companies including Forbo, Adval Tech, Rieter, Autoneum and Berenberg Bank (Switzerland).
Dr Hagen Duenbostel – Hero Board Member since 2011 – Executive Board Member of KWS Saat AG, Germany
Dr Duenbostel is a member of the Hero Finance and Audit Committee and a guest at the Human Resources Committee.
He is a member of the Executive Board of KWS SAAT AG, a provider of agricultural seed based in Einbeck, Germany, responsible for the Corn Division and Corporate Marketing. He has been with the company since 1998 in various capacities including General Manager for KWS MAIS GmbH (the maize part of the business) and CFO of KWS SAAT AG.
Dr Duenbostel holds an MBA from the universities of Regensburg and Passau in Germany and obtained his doctorate from the University of Göttingen, Germany and Harvard Business School.
In addition to his board position with Hero, Dr Duenbostel is also a member of the Young Presidents Organisation (Rhine Chapter) and in the past has been on the Supervisory Board of Sievert AG, Osnabrück and the Eastern European Economic Relations Committee, Berlin as Chairman of the Food and Agribusiness.
Leopold Oetker – Hero Board Member since 2016
Leopold Oetker successfully completed his studies in Culture Studies and History in Berlin and Copenhagen. Over the past two years, Mr Oetker undertook an international business development traineeship at the Hero Group’s former partner Yildiz Holding and worked at the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts. Mr Oetker is also involved in charitable work, helping underprivileged children in Berlin.
