Initiatives at Hero Spain

Water scarcity in arid and dry regions is an important topic especially for our farmers in southern regions. This is why Hero Spain has launched an initiative on regulated deficit water irrigation in the cultivation of apricots and peaches.

With the help of technical and digital equipment for a demand-based irrigation, watering time and quantity are reduced for an overall improvement of water efficiency. Furthermore, nutrient inputs are reduced thanks to live tracing of soil parameters using ground probes.

To support and educate farmers, Hero Spain is offering a peer-learning program under the guidance of an agronomy expert. Based on comprehensive field visits, soil studies, and risk assessments, apple and pear farmers receive individual transition plans and training to improve overall crop production while implementing regenerative agriculture practices.

Hero Spain initiatives are supported by agronomy experts from reNature and Digital Data Farm as well as Asociación de Naturalistas del Sureste (ANSE).
