Initiatives at Hero Türkiye

Our procurement team at Hero Türkiye is equipped with extensive agricultural expertise, which is a significant benefit in direct dialogues with farmers.
To support sustainable farming practices and enhance biodiversity, the team has developed farmer handbooks for key crops such as apples and peaches, ensuring baby food quality. These handbooks promote natural practices, including the use of trap plants, natural predators, and home-made pesticides, which can reduce the reliance on chemical pesticides.
Hero Türkiye has introduced a crop monitoring app that covers 250 hectares and supports 100 farmers, representing approximately 80% of the total area sourced by the Turkish team. By utilizing satellite images, issues in the orchards can be detected at early stages, enabling prompt and localized interventions. This early intervention allows treatments to be applied only to specific areas rather than the entire orchard. Consequently, this approach not only saves fuel and water but also minimizes disruption to the natural balance in the fields.
